Back-to-School Cupcakes

Here are the cupcakes I made to celebrate the start of a new school year. I was really pleased with how these turned out and might make them again for a back to school potluck later this month.

The cake was this chocolate cake with graham cracker crust and a simple vanilla swiss meringue buttercream. The decorations were all made out of fondant.

My favorites ones were these little apples...so cute!

I used matching sprinkles.

This recipe made about 20 cupcakes and I happily shared them with our neighbor and another friend. It was fun playing cupcake fairy :)

I hope to do a post on making homemade fondant soon and share some tips I have picked up along the way.

My little girl is in preschool...seriously, where does the time go? Last year, when we would drop off her brother at preschool she would get so mad that she couldn't stay too. Needless to say, she has been super happy to go to school this week and her teachers say she is doing great!

  1. Those are wonderful! What a great job - can't wait to hear your fondant tips and get the recipe. I felt the same way you did when my girls went back to school 3 weeks ago. I have one in pre-K and one in the 2's class at preschool. Thank you for posting your great cupcakes!
