Healthy Banana Smoothies
My kids and I both love making smoothies and we make them a lot! In fact, they have become an after school snack staple. I keep a wide variety of frozen fruits in the fridge and the kids each love to come up with new and interesting smoothie combinations. Since the kids love them so much, I also make them for breakfast often.
Below are four of our favorite banana "breakfast" smoothie recipes. The first two are my "kid-friendly" versions. The last two are the "grown-up" version because they include the addition of protein powder (which might be a bit much for young tummies) These work really well as a post work-out protein fix.
Proof that we use this blender a lot...
Banana Breakfast Smoothie
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup oats
1/2 vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup milk
1 Tbsp honey
Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup oats
3 Tbsp peanut butter (smooth)
3/4 cup milk
Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Banana and Oats Protein Smoothie
1 cup skim or low fat milk
1/2 frozen banana
1/4 of oats
1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Almond Banana Cream Protein Smoothie
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup low-fat or skim milk
10 raw almonds
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
5-6 ice cubes
Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

You can also add some ground flaxseeds and/or chia seeds to boost the nutritional value of your smoothie!
